None of the lab software available is very good for removables labs. Therefore the real question is what more could my accounting software do for me to help me track cases in the lab

Best part: Auto reschedules every night and keeps things on track.
Worst part: Its not 100% web based and I don't like to remote in to my work computer to make changes.
New feature I would like: Ability to schedule cases by material type. Ex: Schedule by pressed ceramic shade so that we would waste less ingots by having all cases paired together that should be.

the reporting capability of our software is the most important...and also the part that frustrates us the most! The ability to easily create custom reports quickly is something we will seek in our next purchase.

Just being able to use any portion of any software to help you getting it done! Especially for a small lab. Love my milling system software......hahhahaha

First, I believe that not every software is made for every lab. Most labs are small and will only use the software for tracking and invoicing.
Others that are more business structured might consider the followings as most valuable portion of their lab software:
1. Reporting capabilities
2. Case tracking
3. Customer communication
4. Employee productivity -

Nick...we find that even the smallest labs are now effectively using the reporting capabilities, case tracking and customer communications available in our software, but only a few measure productivity. After the basics, they chose image scanning and electronic graphics as the next step forward.

You are right about few small labs measure productivity, and I find the main reason behind it is because softwares that track productivity seem to associate that with pay and therefore, it becomes very complex o set-up and manage for a small lab that would like to track productivity, but not use the software to pay employees. Nick, we have done this in our tablet app that tracks case item assignments, workflow, production timings, etc. This is a handier much less expensive method in comparison to the barcoded tracking that tends to the choice of the large labs.

Tech pay rates do not have to be set up in order to track productivity. Productivity has many other benefits, such as making sure you have the man power for the work load in your lab. Aaron, this is tied to the case items in the DentaLab for QuickBooks database, which are entered via the keyboard or via online prescriptions from the dental offices. lt is designed for use by the technicians for assignments and their progress and also for managers for monitoring and analysis.
