VITA North America displayed its new VITA YZ HT discs. Due to its high strength (approximately 1,200 MPa) and excellent light refraction properties, the highly translucent zirconia is ideal for monolithic crown and bridge restorations. It’s a cost-effective, tooth-colored alternative to non-precious metal and partially veneered metal restorations. For exact shade reproduction, VITA YZ HT Shade Liquids and the VITA Akzent Plus stains are available. The 98-mm discs are available in 1M2, 2M2, 3M2 or A1, A2, A3 shades, and 14-mm and 18-mm thicknesses.
The VITA VACUMAT 6000 M Special Edition furnace is now available in Jet Black, Pure White, Carmine Red, Turquoise Blue and Sky Blue. It features precision-controlled fast cooling, power failure protection and automatic temperature adjustment. It’s available in two feature-rich control units: the vPad Comfort LED features 500 programs and “one touch” operation, and the vPad Excellence LED has 1,000 programs and can control...

VITA Suprinity, a zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic, was displayed for the first time in the U.S. at Vident’s LAB DAY exhibit. The new-generation glass ceramic has a zirconium dioxide content around 10 times that of traditional CAD/CAM glass ceramic in combination with a fine-grained and homogeneous structure. Indicated for anterior and posterior crowns, implant restorations as well as veneers, inlays and onlays, the material will be available in the U.S. later this year for the CEREC/inLab MC XL, Amann Girrbach Ceramill Motion 2 and the KaVo Arctica 2 milling systems. Call 800-828-3839 or visit vident.com.
Holly Garvin from Dental Associates in Appleton, WI (pictured) and Alex Sakovich from Smile Builders in Palatine, IL, were lucky winners of an iPAD Air in Vident’s LAB DAY Chicago drawing. Anyone who attended a Vident clinic at the show had the chance to enter to win; an entry form was included in a pre-show mailer, making it easy for attendees to choose from six Vident clinics—covering everything from full contour zirconia to removable dentures—and complete the form and drop the entry in the raffle box at LAB DAY.

Are digital dentures coming our way? Also, to meet the growing demand for removable restorations, several manufacturers introduced new teeth and other accompanying products to enhance function, esthetics and efficiency.
Zirconia-reinforced materials are a new trend, and expanded options for pre-colored zirconia and ceramics for full contour restorations offer both efficiency and esthetics. Plus, a new type of material: a biocompatible, millable resin on which the final restoration can be built; there's no need for casting or pressing.

Vident introduced VITA Enamic, a hybrid dental ceramic combining the properties of ceramic and composite materials. Its dominant ceramic structure and reinforcing polymer network offer high fracture load capacity, high levels of elasticity and integrated crack prevention. "This innovative material has the potential to revolutionize what clinicians think about their CAD/CAM material choices and accelerate their CAD/CAM adoption rate. The simple mill, polish and place process of Enamic dramatically reduces chairtime and improves productivity," said Fred Ketcho, CEO. "And the fantastic clinical properties for which VITA is known makes Enamic a powerful addition to our stable of CAD/CAM products."
Available exclusively through Patterson Dental, Enamic CAD/CAM blocks can be milled using the Sirona CEREC and inLab systems and are suitable for fabricating inlays, onlays, veneers, anterior and posterior crowns, crowns over implants, as well as minimally invasive restorations such as no-prep veneers...

The 200 attendees* at How to Control the Future Before the Future Controls You, co-sponsored by Vident and Nobel Biocare, received a digital, handheld device so they could provide instant feedback to questions posed by Moderator Mark Murphy, DDS, FAGD. Their answers were immediately displayed on a large screen at the front of the room.
One striking statistic: 87% of attendees said an undue amount of pressure is keeping them from raising their fees. Given the price erosion trend in our field, this number didn't surprise panelist Richard Harrell, Vice President, DSG. "There is significant pressure across the industry on our average selling price," he said. "From the impact of offshore, new technology and dental group practices, there's a lot of constriction on what we can sell our products for."
Given that reality, the discussion focused on how to diversify in order to boost sales, increase efficiency and client loyalty, and cut costs. In addition to offering in-lab shade-taking services...
Vident's VITA® Zyrcomat Can Sinter in 80 Minutes
Vident launches its new VITA Zyrcomat 6000 MS sintering furnace which is capable of sintering up to 25 units as well as nine-unit bridges in 80 minutes starting from room temperature. The furnace has been rigorously tested and proven to provide stress-free, gentle cooling to 400°C for white and industrially pre-colored VITA YZ materials. Conventional firing processes are also pre-programmed and the Zyrcomat can handle high-temperature sintering for all framework materials. For details, call 800-828-3839 or visit www.vident.com.
At LMT's LAB DAY 2012--the largest international gathering of the dental laboratory community in North America--about 1,140 manufacturer and supplier representatives greeted over 3,100 attendees from 47 states and 49 countries.
LAB DAY has become the place for product launches and breaking news. On the following pages, LMT Editors bring you the full scoop straight from the show floor and various industry events around Chicago. But first, here's an overview of the hot topics that inspired dialogue and debate during our profession's biggest weekend of the year:
BUSINESS GETTING BETTER.
If the mood among laboratory owners and managers could be summed up in two words, it would be "cautiously optimistic." Some, encouraged by a recent upswing in business--however slight--were hopeful we had turned an economic corner.
In fact, during live polling at a Vident/Nobel Biocare panel discussion, 73% of attendees expected sales to be "up markedly" or "up slightly" in 2012: there's the optimism....
