Valplast International Corp. previewed its new solution for fabricating digital dentures for existing CAD/CAM users. Platinum 3D enables labs to scan, design and manufacture digital full dentures in-house without the need to outsource any components and use the scanning, milling or printing equipment of their choice.
The Platinum 3D product line features Valplast’s new Platinum Series brand of multi-layered, nano-filled PMMA denture teeth, and a digital library of 3D tooth models that will be made available to all Platinum 3D denture tooth customers. The digital tooth library will be made available first to 3Shape clients for use with their full denture design module. Other systems are also being explored for use with the new digital tooth library.
Here’s how it works: the lab imports the denture tooth library into its CAD software and designs the denture. Then, the lab can mill a final resin denture base with sockets for the Valplast denture teeth which are cemented into the...

The D2000’s larger interior has room for two models and can scan upper and lower models, bite and dies in one scan. Updated versions of the D750 and D850 feature a new technology platform combined with a larger interior space and blue LED for reduced scan noise.
The new Dental System 2015 introduces several new dental sculpting tools, a streamlined design process, simplified order form, boosted scanning speeds, and more restorative component libraries and compatibility integrations with third-party manufacturers....
Argen Digital featured its latest advances at LAB DAY, including:
Its new custom file upload system which allows 3Shape users to export their designs from Dental Manager and drag and drop their CAD files—including split files—into Argen Digital’s portal for upload. Labs can batch upload files of various material types and restoration sizes concurrently, streamlining the ordering process and offering time savings of up to 80%. The upload will also soon be available for exocad and DentalWings users.
The company has also expanded its Selective Laser Melted (SLM) product offering to include long-span SLM Noble bridges up to eight units; the restorations have a two-day turnaround.

The 3Shape clinic room at LAB DAY was bustling as the company made several key announcements and offered a variety of product demonstrations. Show attendees got the first look at 3Shape's latest scanner, the D900, that offers four high-res 5MP cameras and blue LED technology for excellent speed, high accuracy and color scanning using 3Shape RealColor™ Technology. Designed specifically for mounting, the Denar LabRelator helps extend the life of your current...
DENTSPLY Implants made two announcements at the show:
The ATLANTIS™ Abutment core file—currently compatible with Dental Wings software (DWOS) 2.5.5 or higher—will soon be compatible with 3Shape. This file is a digital representation of the outer surface of an ATLANTIS Abutment that enables the laboratory to design the coping and final restoration before it receives the physical abutment. This reduces turnaround time and labor costs by eliminating the need to scan the abutment and cast and renders a higher-precision digital file than scanning. It's available for single and multiple-unit implant cases; it's not indicated for bridge cases that include prepared natural teeth.
The company also introduced SmartFix™, available for ANKYLOS® and XiVE® implant systems. SmartFix is an effective and time-saving implant-prosthetic technique for immediate, screw-retained restorations in the upper and lower jaw. It allows for restorations on angled implants using either...

NobelProcera users can expand their business with the new in-lab scanning of NobelProcera Implant Bar Overdenture for Straumann implant platforms. These bars have been tested with a new 3D fit assessment to verify the precision of fit, reduce mechanical complications and ensure longevity.
Available later this year, the new NobelProcera 2G Scanner has a similar look and feel to the original with new elements including advanced automation features designed to increase productivity. Existing users of the NobelProcera Scanner will be able to upgrade their current scanner to the new 2G version for a modest fee.
