A group for CAD/CAM technicians to discuss the latest trends, and to share tips and other ideas.
Crown and Bridge technician since 2005, now specializing in CAD/CAM. Started at Keller Laboratories in Fenton, MO, then spent over 6 wonderful years at Verch Dental Ceramics in Ellisville, MO. Currently working for Summit Dental Lab in Waco, TX.
Myself and 5 other techs from my lab have decided that this is the year... we're getting our CDTs! It's been nice having others to share resources and study tips. Here's another question for you... our full contour zirconia crowns have recently started looking less translucent than before and a little on the yellow side. We were debating the...See more cause and have come up with two main ideas - either we're putting too many units in the sintering dish at night, or it's time to change the beads in the dish. Materials, materials, materials! There's my advice for the comprehensive test... KNOW YOUR MATERIALS! Also, the practice quizzes on the nadl.org site are helpful and good practice, but do not rely on...See more them as your primary source for studying. The Air Force Manuals are essential!
According to LMT's 2012 Wage Survey, technicians in the CAD/CAM department are seeing the biggest wage increases. For instance, an all-around CAD/CAM technician with six to 10 years of experience is now earning $19.79 per hour, $3.41 more than in 2010, and a CAD/CAM technician with 11-15 years of experience is now earning $21.06, a $5.07 boost.
