3D Systems' Printer Integrates With 3Shape Software

3Shape, Inc. · Industry News · July 31, 2012

3D Systems' new ProJet™ MP 3500 Dental 3D Printers are now compatible with 3Shape's Dental System™ and CAMbridge software. The integration allows 3Shape Trios® Digital Impression scans, 3Shape Impression scans and select third-party intraoral scans to be designed in 3Shape software and then output to 3D System's printer for high-speed, precise model production.

The solution was pilot tested at Sun Dental Labs where they successfully produced up to 24 quadrant cases in five-and-a-half hours. "The ProJet MP produces full quad cases of plaster-like models for about $5 and enables Sun to produce any type of restoration from our customer's stone model scanner or intra-oral scanner," says Chuck Stapleton, Vice President of Digital Manufacturing at Sun. "The combined impact of this solution's precision, affordability and plaster-like characteristics compel us to step up our transition to a full digital work flow."

"We are very pleased to offer our dental lab customers a proven, integrated solution that combines the latest products from two leading providers into a powerful and affordable manufacturing tool," said Lee Dockstader, VP Business Development, 3D Systems.
