In December, Dental Arts Laboratories, Inc. (DAL) celebrated 80 years of service to the dental industry.
Founded in 1934 by Adolph Knueppel, DAL now has 325 employees across 13 facilities in Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Missouri. The lab has grown to offer a full range of services—including fixed, removable, implants and snoring/sleep appliances and bruxism/occlusal splints—and two years ago opened DT Technologies to provide subcontracting services and CAD/CAM equipment and materials.
Part of the laboratory’s success is due to its team of dedicated officers who have a long history with the company, including Terry Knueppel, Adolph’s son, who joined DAL in 1960 and recently became Chairman. Bruce Colgin, who was hired as a part-time delivery driver in 1975, later became President and was recently promoted to CEO. Scott Clark—whose dentist-father was one of Adolph’s clients—has been with DAL since 1977, acting as Executive Vice President until...

It also makes it easier for labs in the area to schedule a demonstration and see our equipment in action."
Similar to DATRON Dynamics' East Coast Technology Center in Milford, NH, the new location has the same capabilities as a fully functional milling center—from scanning the model to cutting the parts on a DATRON D5—allowing prospective customers to see live demonstrations ranging from titanium implant bars and custom abutments to zirconia crown and bridge structures.
The first event at the new Technology Center...

The survey also asked dentists to name the major benefits they saw in the IdentAlloy/IdentCeram materials certification program.
