ATLANTIS™ Lab Scanning Capabilities Using 3Shape
LMT Communications, Inc. · LAB DAY · Apr 2013
DENTSPLY Implants made two announcements at the show: The ATLANTIS™ Abutment core file—currently compatible with Dental Wings software (DWOS) 2.5.5 or higher—will soon be compatible...See more with 3Shape. This file is a digital representation of the outer surface of an ATLANTIS Abutment that enables the laboratory to design the coping and final restoration before it receives the physical abutment. This reduces turnaround time and labor costs by eliminating the need to scan the abutment and cast and renders a higher-precision digital file than scanning. It's available for single and multiple-unit implant cases; it's not indicated for bridge cases that include prepared natural teeth. The company also introduced SmartFix™, available for ANKYLOS® and XiVE® implant systems. SmartFix is an effective and time-saving implant-prosthetic technique for immediate, screw-retained restorations in the upper and lower jaw. It allows for restorations on angled implants using either a 15° or 30° angled ANKYLOS Balance Base or XiVE MP abutment. These two-piece abutments provide design freedom for the superstructure in terms of height and diameter. The abutment components are pre-mounted in a short, flexible seating instrument for easier handling and placement of the abutment into the implant. 62% of laboratory owners who responded to LMT’s Implant Survey say implants are more profitable than other prosthetic work. In 1999, only 46% said the same. Why? They are more carefully setting implant fees to reflect the extra time and consultation that go into these cases.
