To meet the needs of implant, geriatric and TMJ patients, Heraeus Kulzer launched its Mondial 8i-5° posterior tooth line. "New indication areas such as implant prosthetics are placing increased demands...See more on the stability, function and esthetics of denture teeth," said Lesley Melvin, Heraeus Laboratory Product Manager. "That's why we've worked so closely with leading technicians to ensure that our Mondial 8i-5° posterior teeth complement our existing Mondial and Mondial i teeth to give dental practices and laboratories a comprehensive denture teeth line that is unsurpassed for its natural appearance, comfort and reliability." Like Mondial and Mondial i teeth, Mondial 8i-5° posteriors feature Heraeus' NanoPearls® filler material that offers color stability and resistance to fracture, abrasion and plaque. Since the manufacturing process is identical, all three lines can be used in combination. The key features of the new tooth line are: •The flat occlusal morphology of the teeth ensure precise centrics and freedom in the paths of movement. The naturally reduced cusp angle minimizes shear forces and offers chewing efficiency with comfortable, interference-free, accurate function. The flattened multipoint contact area of the teeth minimizes the initial abrasion on implant cases. They offer a smooth, functional and easily cleaned morphology for geriatric patients and are ideal for TMJ therapy because of their exact centric keying and wide range of motion. •The wider tooth base offers esthetics in both implant and combination work and allows shaping of the gums so the patient can easily clean his prosthesis. The greater basal width and tooth length conceal the tertiary and implant structures. •Because of the unique centrics, technicians can set up the Mondial 8i-5° posteriors easily and securely. They received all materials free of charge, including plaster models and Candulor Composite NFC denture teeth from Candulor and implant components from Camlog. The cases were reviewed by a panel of five judges--including a university professor, dentist, two master dental technicians and a Candulor specialist--and all entries were displayed in the Candulor gallery in the Sheraton Hotel during LAB DAY. "For the next 20 years, 10,000 people will reach the age of 65 on a daily basis," said Max Sturm, President of Candulor, during a press conference at LAB DAY. "In addition, 12% of all dentures are now...See more implant supported and we expect to see 6.5% growth in this area next year." To meet this increasing demand and help laboratories fabricate esthetic and functional dentures, the company announced several new removable products, including: • Bite Fork--an instrument for checking the correct position of the occlusal plane--has been reworked and is now available in a set with four removable vertical pins. • Tooth Sieve is a time-saving aid for sorting, boiling out and cleaning single teeth. • Strong, elastic and transparent Silicone Mixing Bowls for acrylic feature a suction cup on the bottom to prevent sliding and come in three sizes. • New products for dentists, including the Clinical Instrument Set that helps dentists provide the laboratory with necessary denture measurements, and two new intraoral registration sets: the CRS Set 10 for full dentures and the CRS Set 15 for dentate, partially edentulous as well as fully edentulous jaws.
