From Deadlines to Finish Lines

Jake Huot likes to take things to the extreme, literally. He’s an endurance athlete, participating in 240-mile-long bike races and ultra-marathons ranging from 30 to 80-plus miles all over the U.S.
“It’s about fighting my demons. It’s not always fun, but the process of battling your body and mind is the ultimate goal. You can see what you’re truly capable of,” says Huot, Manager at GCD Dental Laboratory in Englewood, CO, and a lifelong athlete who began his extreme hobby after high school.
Now 35, Huot participates in one to four events per year and each race requires a significant amount of training. For an ultra-marathon event, for instance, he builds his endurance by running two to three times a week and cross trains as much as possible by biking, climbing, playing hockey or tennis and strength training in the gym.
